This project was envisioned as a luxury residence catering to the influx of wealthy young families in this dynamic neighborhood of NYC. The property was an empty lot upon acquisition, allowing for the ground-up construction of a sophisticated, contemporary building comprised of four open, light-filled units. The design challenge was how to fit into the historical townhouse neighborhood, while creating a modern statement. The horizontal wood cladding selected for the façade references the texture and color of the adjacent brick structures, while creating a more modern street presence. The open interior spaces are clean and contemporary, with a warm and inviting mix of materials to relax and rejuvenate the occupants. Employing clean and contemporary materials with a subtle use of color, the interior spaces become open and inviting. Large expanses of glazing allow for the charm of the neighborhood to add character to each private residence.
